Diamond Glass Grinder
User Guide

Congratulations!
You have just purchases the fines grinder available today. From the Inland family of craftspeople, we hope you enjoy many hours using this product.

Safety Precautions - Read Carefully!
Always use full eye protection when using this machine!
Small particles of glass can be a nuisance or damaging to your eyes. You should wear full eye goggles when using your machine. Do not rely on eye shield or face shield devices only. They do not provide adequate protection. Only use your grinder with a properly grounded electrical outlet that accepts the three prong electrical plug.

Operating Instructions
Your Inland grinder is ready to operate. The bit set screw should be tightened against the flat side of the shaft only. An allen wrench is provided for this and is located at the back of the machine in the Allen Wrench Holder.

Before the unit is plugged into a grounded electrical outlet, add coolant to the Pop-Top reservoir. The reservoir should be about 3/4 full. You can use water, but we highly recommend the use of a water soluble coolant. Inland RouterCoolant™ has been specifically designed to prolong the life of your diamond bits and is available from your dealer.

After the reservoir has been filled, replace the open-grid work surface by snapping into place. On the Wizling™ model, place the sponge behind the grinding bit with the splash guard secured into the BitSert™. The Wiz™ model does not require a sponge when the InvisibleSponge™ BitSerts™ are used. Refer tot he section "InvisibleSponge™" for complete instructions.

Start with a scrap piece of glass to test the cutting action of the diamond bit. Before grinding, make sure that your sponge is touching both coolant and the bit. As you grind you should never get a white powder (ground glass) build up on the grinding bit. If this occurs, increase the coolant level and adjust the sponge. This procedure is not necessary when using the InvisibleSponge™.

Ground glass can, under certain circumstances, dry to a. most the consistency of concrete. It is important to keep your grinder free of ground glass. Since your unit is a Pop-Top™ grinder, cleaning is a simple and easy procedure. First remove the grinding bit with the allen wrench provided. (located in the Allen Wrench Holder on the back of the machine) and pop off the modular reservoir top. The convenient Pop-Top™ reservoir and open grid work surface can be rinsed off in the sink.

Installing & Removing Diamond Bits
The more you work with stained glass, the more likely it is that you'll accumulate several different grinding bits. It is important to tighten the bit to the flat area of the motor shaft only. Otherwise, damage could result by "scarring' the shaft, making the bit more difficult to remove. A properly aligned bit should go on the motor shaft with no effort. Do not force any bit onto the motor shaft.

If the grinder is not going to be used for a long period of time, it is recommended that the grinding be removed.

Features
Pop-Top™ Housing:
Your grinder is quipped with a detachable Pop-Top™ housing. the modular design makes cleaning a safe and easy process. No more lugging a whole grinder to the sink to clean up.

Storage Compartment: When you remove the Pop-Top™ housing, you'll find a handy accessory storage compartment that can be used to store extra grinding bits, coolant, sponges, and other hand tools. You can even wind the power cord around the center motor housing when you want to stow your grinder away, or when your carrying your grinder to and from class.

Allen Wrench Holder: You'll find that your grinder has a very useful allen wrench holder on the back of the case near the cord. If you use this handy feature you'll never be searching for a wrench again.

Carrying Handles: Your grinder is quipped with a splash guard that is positioned behind the grinding bit. This unit snaps into the BitSert™.

Super Fan-Cooled Motor: The motor in your new grinder is super cooled, and operates at 3,500 RPM. Laboratory test indicate that these motors sun 40% cooler than any other grinder. That means less maintenance and much longer motor life.

Grid Top Rulers: Conventional and metric rulers are engraved into the grinder's work surface.

BitSerts™: The funny looking little plastic piece that snaps into the work surface is a BitSert™. A standard BitSert™ us used with a sponge. An InvisibleSponge™ BitSert™ requires no sponge. The difference between the two is that the regular BitSert™ is flat and the InvisibleSponge™ BitSert™ has a round tube protruding downwards.

InvisibleSponge™ BitSert™ System
Each PopTop™ Wiz™ grinder is equipped with the patented InvisibleSponge™ BitSert™ System. This system is available as an option for the PopTop™ Wizling™ grinder.

The InvisibleSponge™ eliminates the need for a sponge. It literally "pumps" coolant up the bit to the glass being ground.

To use the InvisibleSponge™ BitSert™ System, snap the InvisibleSponge™ BitSert™ into the work surface and install the grinding bit onto the motor shaft. In the event that not enough coolant is being pumped to the pint of grinding, gradually increase the coolant level in the reservoir until adequate coolant is provided during grinding.
