User Instructions

Thank you for buying this Inland product. This booklet contains instructions for set up and use of the Inland FlexShaft™  accessory tool. machines. The Inland FlexShaft works with Inland SwapTop™ Grinder & Router/Shaper, all Inland glass grinders including the Wizard IV, Impulse, Aero, WizCG, Wizling CG, Contour, and Contour GT. Please take time to read all the instructions to understand the correct components, set up, and use of this product.

Using the FlexShaft™ with SwapTop Machines or your Inland Glass Grinder.
The FlexShaft™ can be attached to your glass router or grinder and used as a freehand tool for drilling, shaping, grinding, polishing, engraving, and other tasks. Use it with the PowerKits Drill Press set up for drilling holes in various materials, sanding, and polishing.

  1. FlexShaft on motor shaftinstalling FlexShaft on motor shaftMake sure that there are no tools (i.e. drills, burs, diamond tips, etc.) installed on your FlexShaft™ before setting it up. If you are using a glass grinder, remove any bits from the motor shaft.
  2. Make sure the powering machine is off.
  3. Locate the flat side of your machine's motor shaft. Slide the FlexShaft™ adapter end onto the motor shaft with the flat on the adapter lining up with the flat on the motor shaft. (fig. 1 at right)
  4. The FlexShaft™ simply "friction fits" in place. Make sure it is pressed on as far as it will go, approximately one (1) inch. Check and see that it will spin freely without hitting your machine's work surface or other parts. (fig 2 at right)
  5. Insert the small shaft tool of your choice following the directions below. 

Mounting and changing bits and tools:
The FlexShaft™ accepts all small shaft moto-type tools and all bits that have a 3/16" to 1/8" shaft including Inland Diamond Engraver Tips, 10 Pc. Diamond Tip Carving Set, and 50 Pc. Diamond Tip Carving Set.

  1. installing tools on FlexShaftTurn of the powering machine
  2. Locate the hole on the side of the handpiece, 3/4" behind the chucks jaws. Turn the chuck clockwise (to the right) until the hole in the chuck shaft lines up with the hole in the side of the handpiece.
  3. Insert a "retaining pin" (allen wrench, small nail, etc.) through the two holes so that the chuck and handpiece cannot spin freely. (fig 3 at right)
  4. Twist open the chuck's jaws just enough to insert the twist drill, diamond point or grinding burr desired. Make sure that it is centered such that all three jaws will clamp down equally.
  5. Tighten down the chuck and remove the retaining pin.

Removing the FlexShaft™ 
To remove your FlexShaft™, turn off the machine and firmly grasp the adapter end. Pull, applying steady force to remove the adapter from the shaft
