GEL FLUX
User Instructions
This nontoxic and water soluble flux stays put and cleans up fast!
Safety
- Always solder in a well ventilated area.
- KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
- Do not freeze, store in a cool place.
- Refer to MSDS for additional information.
Instructions
- Remove any accumulated oxidation from your lead joints or copper seams. (You can remove oxidation from your solder seams by gently scrubbing with 0000 gauge steel wool).
- Use a flux brush to apply a thin coat of Inland Gel Flux to the joints or seams to be soldered.
- Reapply as needed to complete soldering.
Helpful Hints
- Try to complete soldering and clean up in a single session. Flux left on came or foil will cause it to oxidize making it more difficult to solder later.
- To keep from applying too much flux, trim the bristles of your flux brush to about 1/4".
- If your solder spits and pops while soldering, you have too much flux.
- If your solder won't adhere you either don't have enough flux or oxidation on the surface is preventing the solder from bonding.
- Thoroughly clean your project after soldering to remove flux and soldering residues that can interfere with patinas and affect the appearance of your project. Use plenty of warm water and a flux remover such as Inland Flux Remover.
