Safety
- Always wear proper eye protection when working with these tools.
- Always use tools in the manner prescribed.
Make sure you are using the correct shear for your project. The James EasyCut™ Pattern Shears are available in Foil ( Inland stock no. 60508) and Lead (Inland stock no. 60507) versions. Foil shears remove the narrow strip between pattern pieces required to make your copper foil projects fit properly. Lead shears remove a slightly wider strip to account for the width of the heart in lead came. You can also use Lead shears for cutting mosaic patterns which require a slightly larger space between the pattern pieces.
- Pattern shears are three bladed scissors. The single blade is always on top while cutting.
- Loosen the blade tensions screw for heavier weight pattern stocks like tag board.
- The unique blade design enables you to make the short cutting strokes essential for clean cuts. Use even smaller strokes when cutting tight turns and deep inside curves to keep the pattern from bending and tearing.
- Periodically lubricate the cutting mechanism with a few drops of a light weight oil like mineral oil
