FUMETRAP™
Users Guide
Thank you for buying this Inland product. Soldering in an unsafe manner can negatively affect your health, therefore proper ventilation is vital. Venting directly outside is the best solution. This is not always possible since many hobbyists use spare rooms, basements, kitchens or laundry rooms and can't cut a hole in a wall or ceiling. The next best solution for providing adequate "ventilation" is a unit that evacuates and absorbs solder fumes. The FumeTrap is an effective, affordable means of removing the fumes and vapors produced when soldering.
About the FumeTrap
The FumeTrap is a 5"w x 6"d x 5"h steel frame housing with a powerful intake fan. The front of the unit has a fixed grill cover. A disposable activated charcoal filter is enclosed in a reusable grill cover that easily "snaps" into the rear of the housing. Activated charcoal removes the fumes and vapors generated when soldering.
The large grillwork spacing allows for maximum fume drawing. Never place fingers or objects into the grill and keep the unit away from children. Four large rubber feet provide stability and a cushion to protect whatever surface the unit is placed on. The handle on the unit allows it to be moved as you solder.
SAFETY
Before your FumeTrap is ready for use you will need to complete the following:
Using the FumeTrap
Your FumeTrap provides maximum filtering when it is positioned near the tip of your soldering iron; within 6-8" is ideal. As you work reposition the FumeTrap so it remains directly in front of where you are soldering.
The FumeTrap's activated charcoal filter was chosen specifically for its ability to remove those fumes and vapors associated with soldering. It is difficult to specify an exact time interval for replacing the filter since individual use of the unit will range. If you hold the filter cartridge (the filter mounted in the removable rear grill) up to the light and there is visible blockage replace it. If it feels sticky or tacky, replace it. The filters are not reusable. Don't try to extend their use life by washing, vacuuming or shaking them.
