TEMPTROL 100™ VARIABLE
OUTPUT SOLDERING IRON

User Instructions

Safety

  1. Always solder in a well ventilated area.
  2. Never eat, drink or smoke while soldering. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before doing anything else.
  3. Never rest a hot iron directly against work surfaces. Always use an iron stand to safely hold a hot iron away from work surfaces.
  4. Never leave your soldering iron plugged in and unattended.
  5. Never override the grounding system on your iron (or any other tool).
Operating Instructions
  1. Plug in and allow several minutes for the iron to heat up.
  2. Adjust the temperature by turning the knob to the desired position. Test the heated iron for proper temperature on a practice piece before starting to solder. Adjust temperature if necessary.
  3. Make sure that the items you are clean before soldering. Oxidized surfaces can be difficult to solder.
  4. Brush flux onto the surfaces being soldered.
  5.  The rate you feed solder and move the tip along determines the quality, smoothness and appearance of the finished solder seam. Practice your technique before soldering your project.
Changing Tips
  1. Make sure the iron is cool.
  2. Loosen the nut at the end of the barrel by turning counterclockwise.
  3. Remove the tip and replace with new tip. Make sure you have the correct tip for your iron type.
  4. Secure the tip by replacing the nut and tightening until snug.
Maintenance
  1. Keep your iron tip clean while soldering while wiping on a damp sponge.
  2. Never use abrasive materials to clean your iron tips.
  3. Loosen the screw or nut that secures the tip in the iron when finished soldering. This helps prevent it from seizing in the barrel.
  4. Avoid dropping and banging your iron.
  5. Avoid burning the iron cord and replace burnt cords immediately.
